The Remodeling Process

Remodeling Preparation We drain the pool, add weep holes to avoid movement, then we begin the process of chipping out around the light fixtures fittings and 12” to 6” below waterline. We also knock off all edges of steps and benches to insure a proper 45 degree bond of the material. The existing pool surface is then checked for hollow areas, and further chipped out if needed.

Remodeling Design At this phase of the project, we are able to make design changes to your project busting out existing areas, tying in new Re-Bar, and shooting in Gunite to add a Spa, raised the depth level, add additional steps and benches or a sunshelf. We can also add any Boulder Creations structure to your project at this time.

Remodeling Tile and Coping and Decking Next phase if desired is to update your Tile & Coping with newer materials that better complement your finish. We recommend the Pebble Technology Porcelain Shore Line Tile Series; however, any tile can be used. Cap Decking and Additional Decking can also be added at this phase.

Remodeling Plaster Finish After all proper areas have been chipped out, a layer of bond coat is then sprayed on to the entire surface as the final prep stage. Usually, Plaster is applied within 48 hours of the bond coat. All sand, plaster chips, and debris is cleaned up and hauled away. (if new tile is desired, it would be installed prior to the bond coat application.)

Mixing Finish The finish that you have chosen from White Plaster, Marbella®, Pebble Fina®, Pebble Tec®, Pebble Sheen® or Beadcrete is then prepared on our hopper.

Pneumatic Application - This formulation is then pneumatically applied to the pool or spa interior.

Hand Trowel - Installers use a hand trowel method, one small area at a time, to ensure the mixture is formed into an even surface.

Aggregate Exposure with Water Wand - After the application is finished, the entire pool is sprayed down with water. This exposes the finish and removes excess cement.

Acid Wash - A hardening period, normally 24 hours, is followed by a final cleansing treatment. A special solution is used to enhance the brightness of the finish.

Buffing and Pressure Water Cleansing (only applies to Pebble Sheen® and Beadcrete pool finishes) - A light buffing process occurs during the cleansing treatment.

Completion - There is no waiting time for plaster dust removal. Once your pool finish installation process is complete, simply fill the pool with water, balance the water with chemicals and begin swimming. * MMG does recommend having a professional pool technician start up your projects in order to insure accurate water chemistry from the onset.
