Gunite Preparation for Builders
and Homeowners 1) The day you are scheduled
for gunite, please move your cars down the street.
Also, please move any lawn chairs, tables or anything
that could potentially get gunite dust on them out
of the way. It is also our policy to tarp the area
in close proximity to where Gunite construction
is to be performed.
2) To insure the maximum strength of your swimming
pool’s newly installed gunite shell, it is very
important that you water it two or three times per
day. Starting at the top of the beam, continue down
the walls, watering the floor last. This process
should take twenty to thirty minutes if the proper
amount of water is applied. You must continue this
process for seven to ten days. Keep the weep holes
clean.
3) It is common to have shrinkage cracks in the
floor and coves. These cracks appear more during
the summer when temperatures are high. This is normal
and you have no reason to be concerned.
4) In regards to scheduling the remaining phases
of your pool construction, you can schedule tile
the following day. You must however wait ten days
to schedule the plaster of your pool, or backfill
against any forms. If you have any questions please
feel free to call our office.
5) It is standard procedure for our crews to
install weep holes in every pool we gunite. It is
important to keep those weep holes clear of debris.
6) On the day of gunite, let your neighbors know
out of courtesy as we start early in the morning.
If you have a concern about the construction process
the day of the job, feel free to talk to the foreman
or call the office at (281) 847-1855.
7) Wait ten days to turn up the spa.
8) Wait thirty days to change over to a salt
water pool.
Enjoy pool! We sincerely hope that you enjoy
your new pool.
